剧情：

用狄更斯超现实主义的一瞥，让人们警觉，社会的贪婪有时竟然建立在孩子们身上。

骆江和桂花夫妇买了一个名叫小蛾子的十一岁女孩，在街上乞讨为他们赚钱。小蛾子患了一种血蝉疮的血液性疾病，下肢不能走路。桂花想把小蛾子的腿治好，经常偷偷背着骆江为小蛾子熬中药治病。他们在乞讨的路上遇到了一个叫老杨的人，老杨带着一个名叫杨小春的，没有一条胳膊的男孩乞讨。骆江和老杨一见如故，骆江邀请老杨到他租住的地方喝酒。深夜，为了摆脱他们的控制，杨小春背着小蛾子逃了出来。骆江觉得孩子跑了就跑了，人海茫茫的找不到。但是桂花觉得两个孩子都有残疾，在外面没有办法生活，坚持要把两个孩子找回来。最后，老杨和桂花一起去找孩子。

杨小春和小蛾子在乞讨的路上遇到了一个叫钟玉梅的女人，她想收养小蛾子。杨小春知道钟玉梅并不喜欢他，所以独自一个人离去。

老杨并不想真的和桂花去找孩子，他想偷偷的把桂花的肾卖掉，但被桂花发现及时逃脱。

钟玉梅把小蛾子带到医院想把她的腿治好，但是，医生告诉她送来的太晚了，只能截肢。在回家的路上，钟玉梅将小蛾子遗弃在公路上。在城市的另一侧，桂花在电线杆上张贴着寻人启事。

影片结束后是观众与嘉宾的问答时间。

Bought for 1,000 yuans, 11-year old Xiao E’zi (“Little Moth”) suffers from a blood disease that leaves her unable to walk, but her new “parents" have a use for her: begging in the street. Begging is a trade like another – with its rules, its territories, its rackets – and this is what the artificial family formed by Luo Jiang, his wife Guibua and Xiao E’zi– do to try to survive. Complications arise when, fleeing extortionists, they accidentally infringe on the begging territory of the mysterious Mr. Yang and his one-armed boy Xiao Chun. When Xiao Chun and Xiao Ezi hit it off, the plot heads in an alarmingly unexpected direction.

With almost no budget, a hand-held digital camera and a bunch of vivid, propulsively energetic long takes, first time director Peng Tao brings small town China to unforgettably vivid, suspenseful life. Far from exploiting the situation for melodrama, Peng’s cool, naturalistic, realist sensibility draws us even closer to the characters. The performances, partly improvised by exclusively non-professional actors, are simply astonishing. Discussion and Q&A with guests follows the screening.
